Brahmanandam (born Kanneganti Brahmanandam; 1 February 1956) is one of India’s most celebrated actors and comedians, best known for his extraordinary contribution to Telugu cinema. With a career spanning more than four decades and appearances in over 1,000 films, he holds the Guinness World Record for the most screen credits by a living actor. His remarkable comic timing, expressive performances, and versatility have made him one of the most beloved and influential figures in Indian cinema.
Before entering the film industry, Brahmanandam earned a Master’s degree in Telugu and worked as a college lecturer. His passion for theatre and mimicry eventually led him to cinema, where he rose from humble beginnings to become one of the country’s most respected performers. His contributions have been recognised with numerous honours, including the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian award, along with multiple Nandi Awards, Filmfare Awards, and an honorary doctorate from Acharya Nagarjuna University.
